Ceremonies & Activities
Across a year, a month and a week there are ceremonies that Perfect Liberty members take part in. Perfect Liberty does not prescribe every aspect of its practise. Across the world Perfect Liberty members make their own ceremonies that are appropriate to their diverse cultures.
Perfect Liberty is flexible and ceremonies can be tailored to meet the wants and needs of its followers. There are, however, some ceremonies that are observed across all Perfect Liberty churches.
Across the year
January 1: New Year’s Day – a time to renew one’s dedication to living in peace and look forward to the new year ahead
May 29: Oyashikiri Anniversary Ceremony – to mark the day in 1958 when the Second Founder received the word ‘Oyashikri’ and the ‘Oyashikri Prayer’
August 1: Founder’s Day – a day to honour the spirits of the Spiritual Father, the First and Second Founders, pray for world peace and give gratitude for God’s assisitance
September 29: The Anniversary of Perfect Liberty – a day to appreciate the efforts of the Second Founder to establish Perfect Liberty and a day to renew our determination to share the message of the Perfect Liberty teachings.
Across a month
1st day of each month: the Day of Peace when we pray for world peace and dedicate ourselves anew for peace within our lives. This is usually held on the nearest Sunday for the convenience of the members.
11th of each month: Ancestor’s Day – a day to appreciate that fact that we are only here because of our ancestors. We also pray to deepen our PL faith and live an artistic life by the virtue of our ancestors. This is also held on the nearest Sunday for the convenience of the members.
21st of each month: Thanksgiving Day – held at 7pm. During the Thanksgiving Service is the “Divine Rite of Purification” when members can give thanks for the blessings of the past month and pray for their most important wishes for the coming month.
Across a week
The Sunday Gathering (held on most Sundays) is a special chance to receive God’s blessing and renew our strength for the coming week. It’s also a time to interact with other members over refreshments at the end of the service. (If you wish to join us on a particular Sunday please call 3890-4322 to ensure we are meeting on that day.)
Individual Ceremonies
In PL there are also many other kinds of ceremonies which are performed at the request of individual PL members at the chapel, in their homes or in their places of business. These include ceremonies for the Omitama Enshrinement or its relocation, birthdays, births, business prosperity, weddings, funerals, memorial services, etc.
Holy Land Renseis
Rensei training is Perfect Liberty’s spiritual, mental and physical training that has been blessed by God. By participating in rensei training members can more quickly embody Perfect Liberty in their daily lives. Normally held for two or three days, it includes seminars and some form of Misasage.
